Anne Hathaway about her
late husband James

I will always remember mum’s bravery and positive attitude throughout her sickness. She knew she was dying yet she was strong-minded and never asked for help. She remained witty but would never talk about dying. Sometimes we would sit together and drink cups of tea all day.

Frequently asked questions

What is a memorial?

A memorial is a dedicated page on The Solace that honours your loved one in a personalised way when they die. It includes their life story, photos and messages from family and friends. You can revisit this lasting tribute forever.

Why create a memorial?

Creating a memorial provides you with a place to honour your loved one's life, communicate funeral plans, and gather photos, memories and condolences in one central location. It serves as a sanctuary where grief meets grace, lives are celebrated and shared healing can occur.

I'm a family member planning a funeral, what do I do?

Family members who are planning a funeral can ask their funeral director to create a death notice and publish the memorial for them. As an administrator, the funeral director will upload relevant information, collect RSVPs and keep everyone informed of funeral arrangements through one central place.

How much does The Solace cost?

The Solace is free for anyone who wants to engage with a memorial page - whether by lighting a candle, sharing a memory, or making a small gesture to support the family during the funeral.
