The Solace is a project shaped by love, remembrance and a deeply personal journey of loss. It was founded by Mark Legge as a sanctuary for those seeking solace in death.
Irish roots
We Irish pride ourselves on "doing death well”. The Solace helps families find connection through their grief – and funeral directors to bring warmth to the rawness of loss. Through personalised remembrance that can be revisited anytime, reflecting the complexity and beauty of life, their legacy lives on.

Yet, the services available to honour him felt rigid, clinical, and entirely out of step with the person we were mourning. This experience planted the seed for The Solace.”
