Peter Archer CEnvH FCIEH

Peter Archer devoted his life to helping others, through his work in housing and environmental health, his leadership in local and international organisations, and his tireless commitment to the communities he cared about. After qualifying as an Environmental Health Officer in 1968, Peter spent more than 30 years in local government in Birmingham and Bristol before moving into consultancy, inspection and international collaboration. He represented the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health around the world and worked to reduce health inequalities across the UK and Europe. Closer to home, Peter was active in his village in Worcestershire, chairing the school governors, supporting the restoration of the local Norman church and always finding ways to bring people together. He will be remembered for his humour, warmth and deep sense of fairness. Whether as a colleague, mentor, neighbour or friend, Peter inspired those around him with his generosity and belief in public service.
